Dear Reader,
After completing Of Stars and Secrets, I felt that Skyler needed her own story. What you hold here is the next twenty years of her life. In an effort to keep all of the characters in front of you, I’ve moved around from Dulsar to Suma to Second Earth, as well as keeping track of what Zondinal and Yarrie are up to in their isolated sectors of Alliance Space. The lineage placed at the front is to assist you in remembering the relationships from Of Stars and Secrets, as well as new connections that are formed in this segment of the story. To help you follow the threads through the years and the various locations, I’ve given the dates and places at each chapter and scene break, if it was different from the previous one. I only mention the galaxies the first time I name the planet as the location. The dates you see listed are several hundred years in the future, thus the A.D. (Anno Domini). To that, I added “P.E.D.” which means “Post Earth Date”, a time when humans leave Earth, either for exploration, or survival.
Research suggests that people use only a small portion of their brain. Questions have been raised as to why we were born with so much, if not to use it. Theories offer that perhaps everyone has psychic abilities, but not all choose to practice and develop the talent. Some say our “extra” brain mass is for communing with something much larger than ourselves. I invite you to notice how Skyler and Gage have honed their abilities, then look to yourself and decide whether you choose to investigate those same ideas.
As with all my stories, there is the shadow piece that many in society choose not to look at or talk about, perhaps in the hope that it will disappear. I prefer to shine a little light on that ugliness, challenging myself to portray those issues as I see them, and nudging you to raise your own inquiries regarding what I’ve placed within these pages.
